I’ve so far made 3 of these scarves – but at step 5 I made 7 dc instead of 9. I didn’t read the chart until after transcribing and making two scarves from the video where I obviously didn’t catch that it was 9 dc, not 7. I feel this makes mine unique. 🙂 However, I will be making one with 9dc, simply because I want to see how much difference it will make. 

I’ve included both the 7 & 9 dc versions below. As you can see, there are only minor differences between the two.

For both versions: Worsted weight yarn; 6mm hook

Gauge unimportant

V-st: 2dc, ch1, 2dc in same st / ch-sp; V-st2: 2dc, ch2, 2dc in same st or ch-sp

7 dc Version:

  1. Dc in 1st ch. *Ch3, dc through top of both prev dc & ch.* Rep 3 times. DO NOT TURN. (5 ‘shells’)
  2. V-st in sp between prev ch3 & dc. Dc in next sp. V-st in next sp. Dc in next sp. V-st in next sp. Dc in beg ch. Ch3. Turn.
  3. WS: V-st. FPDC around dc. V-st in v-st. FPDC around dc. V-st in v-st. Dc from front to back in top of beg ch3 of prev row. Ch3. Turn.
  4. RS: Rep Row 3, but BPDC instead of FPDC & back to front in top of beg ch3 instead of front to back in top of beg ch3 of prev row.
  5. Rows 3 & 4 form pattern. Rep until 13”/33cm long – 21 rows of v-st, ending with RS Row.
  6. **Turn. Slst in next 3 st. Ch3. Dc in v-st. Ch2. Dc2 in same v-st. Ch3. Dc in base of ch3 (as if to picot). V-st2 in final v-st of row. Turn.
  7. Slst in next 2 st. Slst in ch-sp. Ch3. Dc in v-st. Ch2. 2dc in same v-st. Ch3. 7dc in sp between ch3 & dc of prev row. Ch3. V-st2 in V-st2 of prev row. Turn.
  8. Slst in next 2 st. Slst in ch-sp. Ch3. Dc in ch-sp. Ch2. 2 dc in same ch-sp. (Dc, ch1) in each of 7 dc of prev row but sk ch1 in 7th V-st2 in V-st2. Turn.
  9. Slst in next 2 st. Slst in ch-sp. Ch3. Dc in ch-sp. Ch2. 2 dc in same ch-sp. *Ch3. Sc in next ch-sp.* Rep x 6. Ch3. V-st2 in V-st2. Turn.
  10. Slst to ch-sp. Ch3. Dc. Ch2. 2 dc. *Ch3. Sc in ch-sp* x 5. Ch3. V-st2 in V-st2. Turn.
  11. Slst to ch-sp. Ch3. Dc. Ch2. 2 dc. *Ch3. Sc in ch-sp* x 4. Ch3. V-st2 in V-st2. Turn.
  12. Slst to ch-sp. Ch3. Dc. Ch2. 2 dc. *Ch3. Sc in ch-sp* x 3. Ch3. V-st2 in V-st2. Turn.

Rep steps 3 & 4 until there are 42 rows of v-st. Rep from ** to **. Weave in ends.

9 dc Version:
